Fundraising Guidelines

Every contribution begins with trust. Every fundraiser carries responsibility.

On this page

Ummiid is built around a simple belief: people should be able to come together to support genuine needs with dignity, transparency and care.

These Fundraising Guidelines explain how campaigns should be created, what organisers are responsible for, how donors can make informed decisions, and what standards apply to fundraising on Ummiid.

1. Who Can Create a Fundraiser?

Ummiid is intended to support eligible individuals, families, community initiatives, NGOs and organisations seeking assistance for genuine purposes.

Campaign approval depends on the information provided, applicable eligibility requirements, necessary documentation and the platform’s review process. Creating an account does not guarantee that a campaign will be approved or receive donations.

If you create a campaign for someone else, you must have appropriate authority or permission and clearly explain your relationship with the intended beneficiary.

2. Create an Honest and Clear Campaign

Every campaign should explain:

  • The person, family, community or organisation seeking support.
  • The purpose and circumstances of the fundraiser.
  • The intended use of the funds.
  • The amount being requested and how the target was determined.
  • The organiser’s relationship with the beneficiary.
  • Any material conditions that a donor should understand.

All information must be accurate and presented in good faith.

Fabricated emergencies, misleading medical claims, false identities, altered documents and exaggerated needs are prohibited. Campaign organisers must not promise a particular outcome, fundraising amount or delivery date unless it can genuinely be supported.

3. Medical, Personal and Emergency Fundraising

Campaigns involving medical treatment, education, family emergencies or personal hardship must respect the dignity and privacy of the people concerned.

Organisers should submit only the supporting documents reasonably necessary for campaign review. Sensitive information should not be displayed publicly unless its disclosure is appropriate, authorised and necessary.

Ummiid may request additional information where reasonably required to assess a campaign. The submission of documents does not automatically establish the authenticity of every claim or guarantee approval.

4. NGO and Organisational Fundraising

Organisations must provide accurate organisational information and any registration, authorisation or supporting documentation reasonably required for review.

Campaigns must reflect the organisation’s actual activities and intended use of funds.

Registration as an NGO or other organisation does not automatically qualify a campaign for tax-deductible donations or foreign contributions. Claims involving Section 80G, FCRA or another tax or regulatory benefit may be made only where the relevant requirements have been verified and the specific donation qualifies.

5. Responsible Use of Funds

Funds should be used for the purpose disclosed to donors.

If circumstances change materially, campaign organisers should communicate the change transparently and follow the applicable platform procedures and legal requirements.

Campaign funds must not be diverted to undisclosed personal purposes, unrelated transactions or unlawful activities.

6. Donor Awareness and Transparency

Donors should review the campaign description and available supporting information before contributing.

A successful donation confirmation records the reported payment status. It does not automatically guarantee the truth of every campaign statement, achievement of the fundraising target or the final outcome.

Any verification undertaken by Ummiid must be described accurately. Campaign approval must not be represented as an independent audit or a guarantee of the beneficiary’s circumstances unless such verification has actually been performed.

7. Prohibited or Restricted Campaigns

Ummiid may reject, restrict, pause or remove campaigns that appear fraudulent, misleading, unlawful, exploitative, unsafe or inconsistent with platform rules.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • Fabricating beneficiaries, emergencies, identities or documents.
  • Fundraising without appropriate authority.
  • Impersonating another person or misusing their photographs.
  • Harassment, hate, threats or exploitation of vulnerable people.
  • Using campaigns to support unlawful activities or prohibited transactions.
  • Misleading investment offers or guaranteed-return claims.
  • Misusing donations or attempting to evade applicable financial controls.

Where reasonably necessary and legally permitted, Ummiid may request clarification, restrict campaign activity, delay a payout, preserve relevant records or refer suspected unlawful activity to appropriate authorities.

8. Withdrawal/Payout Processing Fee and Payouts

A withdrawal/payout processing fee of 5% plus applicable GST at 18% on the fee applies to the relevant eligible withdrawal/payout amount under the current platform policy.

No additional Ummiid platform fee is specified under this policy.

Before confirming a payout, the user should be shown the eligible amount, the payment processing fee, applicable GST on that fee and the resulting net payout.

Illustrative calculation

  • Eligible payout amount: ₹10,000
  • Payment Processing Fee at 5%: ₹500
  • GST at 18% on the ₹500 fee: ₹90
  • Total deduction: ₹590
  • Net payout: ₹9,410

This example assumes that the 5% fee is calculated on the full eligible payout amount and that GST at 18% applies to the fee. The actual transaction calculation must match the fee disclosure and applicable tax treatment.

This 5% fee and GST on that fee apply to the withdrawal/payout processing stage. They are separate from the 10% Gift Card purchase processing fee shown in the Affiliate Distribution projection. The projection treats the purchase fee as tax-inclusive; its tax and accounting treatment requires professional confirmation.

Payout requests are intended to be processed within 24 hours after a complete request has been submitted, the required checks have been completed and the request has been approved. This is a processing target, not a guarantee of bank credit within 24 hours. Verification, payment-provider processing, bank settlement, disputes, reversals and legal restrictions may affect timing.

9. Reporting a Concern

If you encounter a suspicious, misleading or potentially harmful campaign, contact [email protected] with the campaign URL and relevant details.

Please avoid publishing another person’s sensitive information publicly.

Reports are reviewed according to their urgency, available evidence, platform procedures and applicable law. A report does not automatically establish wrongdoing.

10. Our Commitment

Ummiid aims to make fundraising more responsible, understandable and accessible while treating donors, organisers and beneficiaries with dignity.

Fundraising success is not guaranteed. Campaign organisers remain responsible for the accuracy of their submissions and the appropriate use of funds.
